Robert Pattinson On 'Bel Ami' Sex Scenes

While the steamy sex scenes in "Remember Me" (March 12) might seem like a big shock to Robert Pattinson fans used to the chaste kisses seen in the "Twilight Saga," the 23-year-old Brit said that they are nothing compared to the sex scenes he filmed for the drama "Bel Ami," due out in 2011.

"There's a lot of sex in ['Bel Ami']," Pattinson warned.

Some of the previous rumors surrounding the film's sex scenes are dubious, but recent reports that say Pattinson will be filming an orgy sequence for the movie all tie back to the fact that there is going to be a lot of explicit sex in "Bel Ami."

"It's a totally amoral character," Pattinson said of the role in an interview with Variety, adding that he's playing a different kind of character than his fans are used to seeing.

In "Bel Ami," Pattinson plays journalist George Duroy in an adaptation of the 1885 Guy de Maupassant short story. Duroy climbs the ranks of Parisian society by seducing influential women, particularly Uma Thurman's Madeleine Forestier and Christina Ricci's Clotilde de Marelle.

"[The film] is like the complete antithesis of what you normally think period dramas are about," Pattinson said, explaining that the era, Paris in the 1890s, is what dictates the different views on sex. "In Paris, everybody was just going nuts. It was like the 1980s. Sex was a kind of a weapon and a tool, and it's odd."

Pattinson added, "It's incredibly different. The [sex scenes] in 'Remember Me' are pretty tender, and in 'Bel Ami' there's something very mercenary about it in a lot of ways."

Andrew Koenig Seemed 'Happy, Fulfilled' Shooting Final Role, Producer Says

A day after the body of actor Andrew Koenig was discovered in Vancouver, Hollywood is beginning to deal with the reality of losing one of its own. One person who has been closely watching the details of Koenig's disappearance and apparent suicide is Miller Uwanawich, producer of the upcoming film that will mark Koenig's final onscreen role.

"Sad," is how the filmmaker described himself when asked about the "Growing Pains" star who shot "DaZe: Vol. Too (sic) - NonSenSE" with him in mid-2008. "If I have to explain [my feelings] in one word, sad. I don't know what else to say; I'm shocked, sad, surprised."

Currently in post-production, "DaZe" has already gained a good deal of attention because of another of its stars, "Twilight" breakout Jackson Rathbone. A somewhat experimental, trippy independent film consisting of three parts, the cast also includes such notables as Gary Busey, Bubba Smith and Danny Cooksey.

"From what I understand, it was his last project," Uwanawich said of Koenig. "My partner and I cast him; we're younger, we're in our thirties, and it was a project of art and love vs. money and greed, so it was a fun project. We cast Andrew because we were fans of 'Growing Pains,' we were fans of his character. Our makeup artists, they all lived in the same building as Andrew, and we ended up being friends."

Playing the part of "Vice Chancellor," Koenig appears opposite Busey. "His character is a silly character," Uwanawich explained. "Gary is pitching these crazy products, he's a struggling businessman. Andrew happened to be one of the investors that he's trying to pitch this project to, this gravity power device of some sort."

"It's one of the best scenes of the movie," Uwanawich added, saying that the largely improvised scene often gets singled out by those who've caught advance screenings of "DaZe" as one of the film's highlights. "Gary had no chance [to keep up]; Andrew took the scene over."

As details continue to emerge about Koenig's depression, mental state prior to disappearing and suicide, Uwanawich finds himself thinking back to the shoot. But he can't recall any signs that the '80s TV star was unhappy.

"I can't tell you how shocked I am," he said. "He was just a nice individual, we had some nice conversations, it came as a complete shock to me. We had a great time on set, laughing and joking. Everyone was happy. We were all at dinner [after the shoot]; the director, myself, Andrew, the makeup artist. We all had a few cocktails, and he seemed like a very nice, happy, fulfilled person."

As for "DaZe: Vol. Too (sic) - NonSenSE," Uwanawich revealed that Koenig did not share any scenes with Rathbone, and that the film is currently receiving some CG-heavy effects while eyeing a late-2010 theatrical release.

"When people see his performance, they're gonna smile and laugh," Uwanawich promised. "It's like Andrew was in the '80s; he brings this lovable character out. It was awesome."

Johnny Depp Says Making 'Alice In Wonderland' Was 'A Gas'

Under a steady rain and with screaming fans surrounding them, Johnny Depp and the cast of "Alice in Wonderland" arrived Thursday night at London's Odeon Leicester Square for the world premiere of Tim Burton's 3-D reimagining of Lewis Carroll's beloved children's tale.

Joining Depp in the soggy yet festive environment were co-stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska and Michael Sheen, as well as Wes Anderson, Terry Gilliam, Lily Cole and Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla. Arriving in U.S. theaters on March 5, Burton's film tells the story of Alice years after her original trip down the rabbit hole as she once again tumbles unknowingly into the bizarre land of talking rabbits, grinning cats and hookah-puffing caterpillars. "Alice" represents Depp and Burton's seventh big-screen collaboration over 20 years, and as Depp told reporters on the red carpet, the duo still have a blast on set.

"I had a ball," he said. "Tim called me and asked if I wanted to play the character [of the Mad Hatter] and I immediately said yes. I wanted to find a way to do something I thought was a bit different, maybe hadn't been done before. It was a great challenge. It was a gas. For me, it was just a ball. But anytime I get to work with Tim is always the best pleasure there is."

Following genre-bending work on pictures like "Edward Scissorhands," "Corpse Bride" and "Sweeney Todd," Depp said that "Alice" is unlike any of their previous efforts. "In terms of cinema itself, Tim has gone beyond any place he's ever traveled before," he explained. "He's gone far above anything he's done before. He's really gone to new heights."

Burton soared so high creatively that Hathaway admitted she often had no clue what the director was up to. "I've been very curious for so long," the actress said. "Tim would try and explain it and I would really not know what he was talking about most of the time. It's exciting to finally get to see."

For Burton, though, the attraction to "Alice" was not so much a need to outdo himself but the chance to explore classic literary stories. "They're iconic characters that have been around for so long, and the opportunity to deal with them and play with them was really fun," he said.

Robert Pattinson, Emilie De Ravin Discuss 'Remember Me' Love Scenes

"Twilight" fans are lucky to see a few chaste, sexy kisses between leading man Robert Pattinson and his onscreen love Kristen Stewart during one of the saga's films. But anyone going to go see his more adult — and less supernatural — new film "Remember Me" should expect many more steamy moments.

The film, which opens March 12, is a drama focused on Pattinson's character, Tyler, and the relationship he forms with costar Emilie de Ravin's character, Ally. Needless to say, the film doesn't shy away from its PG-13 rating, as there are a few intimate scenes between Tyler and Ally.

When MTV News got a chance to sit down and talk with the stars of the film, Pattinson was quick to answer that he was more nervous about filming the sex scenes than his co-star. De Ravin seemed a bit shocked by his answer, to which he responded with a laugh, "Yeah, you were, like, fine!"

And according to Pattinson, there was a bit of a wardrobe mishap when Pattinson and de Ravin were set to start filming one of their scenes. He was supposed to be wearing a "modesty patch" to cover his personal areas, but apparently the costume department didn't have one available for either him or de Ravin. So they ended up having to take half a bra and finding a way for it to stay on his body.

"They had to, like, tape it and stretch it around into my ass crack. It was quite funny," Pattinson said, barely managing to tell the story through his laughter. "It's all very glamorous," de Ravin added.

And director Allen Coulter apparently went out of his way to make the two comfortable with being faux-intimate with one another by playing a prank on them before one of the scenes.

"Allen gave us this whole kind of lecture about how to feel 'safe,' " Pattinson explained. " 'We've just got a couple of things which, you know, you can use them or don't use them, fine, if it just makes you feel better about it.' And we walk into the bedroom, and laid out on the bed, the art department had got all these things like handcuffs and improvised sex toys made out of hair dryers and things, and every single thing from the costume department, like a top hat and little silk things."

While those objects didn't make it into the final cut of the film, Pattinson and de Ravin's chemistry and comfort with one another did. But de Ravin did state that there wasn't going to be a "Basic Instinct" NC-17 cut of the film coming out any time soon. What audiences see in the theaters is all there is.

"There's no sodomizing, I don't think," she joked.

'Hurt Locker' Producer Apologizes For Dissing 'Avatar'

Oscar campaigning took a dark turn earlier this week when it was revealed that "The Hurt Locker" producer Nicolas Chartier e-mailed a group of industry players in an appeal for Best Picture votes. And rather than touting the quality of the Kathryn Bigelow-directed, Oscar nomination-leading Iraq War story, Chartier based his plea on his film's indie roots, indirectly but quite obviously slamming "Avatar" in the process.

Chartier called for the e-mail's recipients to tell their "friends who vote for the Oscars," and to have them tell their friends, to support "The Hurt Locker" instead of "a $500M film," according to the Los Angeles Times. He went on to say that "we need independent movies to win," making no mention of Bigelow, star Jeremy Renner or any of the other people involved in making the film.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hasn't yet issued an official statement, but Chartier's breach of campaign rules likely triggered something, as an apology was issued yesterday. The producer called his comments "out of line and not in the spirit of the celebration of cinema that this acknowledgment is." He blames his "naivete, ignorance of the rules and plain stupidity" for the transgression, identifying his original e-mail as "extremely inappropriate" and "something that the Academy disapproves of in the rules."

It's important to note that this is an unusual turn, not the norm for even the most heated Oscar race. Directors Bigelow and James Cameron ("Avatar"), who were once married, have been nothing but cordial about one another's 2009 efforts. There are a lot of opinions swirling around about who will win in this year's Best Picture and Best Director categories.

"I've worked with Kathryn over the years and I have been a huge proponent of her as the genius director that she is from 20 years ago," Cameron said in a recent interview with MTV News. His sentiment was the same late last year, following the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations. "I couldn't be happier to see her get a nomination because it's a recognition that's long overdue," he told MTV News, going on to refer to Bigelow as a "genius filmmaker."

Bigelow has been equally complimentary with regard to her ex-husband's record-breaking sci-fi epic. On Sunday, "The Hurt Locker" won six of the eight awards for which it was nominated at the annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards, including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Original Screenplay. Bigelow was quick to extinguish rumors of a rivalry between herself and Cameron, stating that she is "real honored" to share the Oscar spotlight with the "Avatar" director.

'The Yellow Handkerchief': Drifters, By Kurt Loder

Three losers set out from a small town in the Louisiana bayou country in search of ... something. Brett (William Hurt), fresh from prison after serving a six-year manslaughter sentence, is weary and defeated and just passing through. Martine (Kristen Stewart), a friendless local teen with a mostly absent single dad, wants to be off, right now, to anyplace else. And Gordy (Eddie Redmayne), an annoying goofus, has the scruffy convertible in which they all hit the road.

"The Yellow Handkerchief" was shot on location in 2007. Its British director, Udayan Prasad, made the most of the picture's small-scale budget (somehow stretching it to cover the top-rank cinematographer Chris Menges), and he has a fine facility for quiet emotional observation. This is a movie that's all about its characters; there's not much else. The only outsize thing about the film is the performances that Prasad managed to draw from his nicely-balanced cast.

Hurt settles into his role as if it were a gray cloud of unspoken loss. The picture is strewn with (sometimes confusing) flashbacks to Brett's life before prison, when he was an itinerant oil-rigger who fell in with a hard-shelled marina owner named May (Maria Bello). Brett, who'd never found a place in the world, suddenly felt an unfamiliar emotion: hope. "I know you," we see him telling May. "Your whole life is in your face." He could even imagine marrying her. But May, heavily scuffed by life herself (in ways we're happily left to intuit), is wary. "I don't want to marry anyone, ever," she says. "But I'm grateful you asked."

Brett divulges his story in bits and pieces as he and Martine and Gordy make their way south, possibly to New Orleans. Slowly, he emerges from his own sorrows to offer what guidance he can to his unlikely new friends. Gordy, a hapless yokel, knows that his geeky babbling makes people uncomfortable — when he left his hometown, everybody was happy to see him go. And Martine's longing for affection is getting mixed up with her emerging sexual impulses. What can an outcast like Brett offer these two in the way of life advice? Not much, maybe; but, as it turns out, enough.

Hurt manages something unusual in this film, turning a character with no talent for talk into a compelling presence mostly with his melancholy eyes and an expressive inwardness. Bello is as gritty as always in conveying May's damaged but not completely demoralized nature. And Stewart, just 17 at the time the movie was shot (several months before filming began on the first "Twilight" picture), navigates the swells of teenage confusion with precocious confidence. She also has scenes with Redmayne (a standout in "Savage Grace" and "The Good Shepherd) that glow with the feeling of two lost souls just beginning to grasp their own possibilities.

The movie's title refers to a postcard Brett sends May after emerging from prison. It's been years since they've seen each other — will she take him back? If so, he writes, she should tie a yellow handkerchief somewhere on the boat where she lives. It's a gooey plot device, and the picture has other problems, too — with its carefully measured pace, it sometimes borders on listlessness. But while the ending is foreordained, it doesn't wrap up the story with a bright happy bow. It's a tribute to the actors that we wonder where their characters might go next. We might want to follow them to find out.

Don't miss Kurt Loder's review of "Cop Out," also new in theaters this week.

Joan Jett Says Kristen Stewart 'Nailed' 'Runaways' Role

When MTV News caught a screening of Kristen Stewart's "The Runaways" at the Sundance Film Festival in January, we came away impressed by how the 19-year-old actress "physically embodies the role [of rocker Joan Jett] and curses and growls as the part demands." What did it take for KStew to embody so movingly a real life '70s rock-and-roll icon?

A keen sense of observation, a willingness to study hard and simply good casting. That's how ex-Runaways guitarist Jett explained it in an Interview magazine story.

"I found Kristen to be through and through totally professional and just great to be around," Jett said. "I found us to be really, scarily similar, just in our physicality, the way we move through space."

Stewart and Jett first met on New Year's Eve 2008, when the actress came to one of the singer's concerts. The pair ended up spending the entire day together, and Jett opened up about everything she could remember from her time as a '70s rock pioneer.

"I just dumped on her about everything I could think about the Runaways — I mean, the good, the bad, and the ugly," she said. "I told her all that stuff and how much it meant to me. Then she went off to do 'New Moon,' and I didn't see her again until about two weeks before the 'Runaways' thing started. But she is so authentic. The thing that came through to me was that it was important to her to capture it. She really wanted to nail it."

"Runaways" didn't begin filming until June 2009, and in the months that followed their New Year's rendezvous, Stewart listened to all the band's music that Jett gave her, as well as tapes of the singer talking. But even all that studying wasn't enough. When they reconvened weeks before the shoot, Stewart trained her powers of observation on Jett.

"[S]he was staring at me the whole time," Jett said. "And I was fine with it, because I knew she was watching my posture, my mannerisms, everything I did, the way I hold my hands, just everything. And she really soaked it in. When we were hanging out together on set, it was like I had a mirror image. Even just sitting around, we'd do the same thing at the same time. It was just great — and it wasn't creepy. It was wonderfully special."

Michael Jackson's 'Captain EO' Returns To Disneyland

After being sealed away in the Disney Vault for 13 years, Michael Jackson's "Captain EO" saw the light of day on Tuesday at Disneyland.

Disney surprised Jackson fans earlier this week when it issued an announcement that the 1986 film would be returning to the Tomorrowland Theater. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by George Lucas, the 17-minute 3-D film reportedly cost $30 million to make — setting a record at the time for the most expensive short film ever made. The story follows EO (Jackson) on a journey with his fuzzy alien friends to deliver a gift to the evil Witch Queen (Anjelica Huston).

The feature originally ran exclusively in Disney parks from 1986 to 1997, closing four years after the pop star first faced child molestation allegations.

Interest in the futuristic sci-fi film was reinvigorated after the sudden passing of Michael Jackson last June, when fans began campaigning on Facebook for the movie's return. According to Disney, more than 500 people (some in EO-inspired costumes) lined up to catch Tuesday's 10 a.m. premiere. Some had even spent the night outside the gates in order to see the first screening.

"I loved it," one fan commented. "I grew up on it, so I'm so excited that it's back."

Some of those who enjoyed "Captain EO" during its original run said they were excited to share the experience with a new generation.

"I absolutely loved it," said one parent. "It was just like when I was 7, and it was amazing. I'm so glad I could bring my little one. She's 3, and she loved it too — huge Michael Jackson fan!"

While Disneyland says "Captain EO" is running as a limited engagement, a spokesperson told KTLA that it will continue to play as long as it's popular.

Kristen Stewart Reminisces About First 'Twilight' Interview

BEVERLY HILLS, California — This week is a very interesting time in the life of Kristen Stewart. On one hand, she's living the life of a movie star, winning BAFTA Awards, setting up plans to attend the Oscars and talking about her role in one of the year's most eagerly anticipated blockbusters.

On the other, she's waving goodbye to the last remembrance of her relatively anonymous youth — and the movie that, in a way, began her superstardom. It's called "The Yellow Handkerchief," and by now, every good Twilighter knows KStew shot the film as a 16-year-old indie star best known for being "that girl from 'Panic Room.' " But when this reporter caught up with her recently to discuss the romantic drama that finally opens this weekend, I almost felt like I should apologize.

"Hi," Kristen said as I walked into the room and complimented her and co-star Eddie Redmayne on a job well done. "When did you see it? Oh, you saw it at Sundance!"

And with that, we both began reminiscing about a unique circle that began two years ago. Stationed in Park City, Utah, to cover the Sundance Film Festival for MTV News, I caught a densely attended screening of "Handkerchief" — a movie I really enjoyed — then headed over to a small press conference in a tent outdoors.

After Stewart, Redmayne, William Hurt and Maria Bello answered questions from the press, the conference ended and each walked offstage in separate directions and found straggling reporters approaching them for quick chats. Full disclosure: The only reason I was there was to try to get Hurt to talk about "The Incredible Hulk." But since someone else grabbed Hurt first, I instead went over to Stewart, who was standing alone. We had spoken a few times in the past, so she recognized me, and we sat down in a pair of folding chairs in the corner of the tent. After a nice conversation about the movie, I asked the one simple question that every person in my profession ends every interview with: What are you shooting next?

"That was the first time you asked me about 'Twilight'!" Kristen smiled when we caught up last week at the "Handkerchief" junket. "I remember the interview! ... You were like 'So, what's up with this [movie]?' "

Actually, she brought up the film. "The movie is called 'Twilight,' " she said during that January 2008 encounter. "Catherine Hardwicke is directing it in Washington. It's based on a book that's pretty popular [among] young adult, high school kids.

"The main character is, like, superhuman," she said of Edward Cullen. "He's a vampire, but with really [heightened powers]. He can run faster than a car can drive, and he's super strong."

At that point, Stewart added that she would be co-starring with some British actor named Robert Pattinson.

"Was Rob cast? I guess I don't remember," she explained. "That's so weird."

The result was the first time Kristen had ever spoken in public about the "Twilight" films, and when we ran a Movies Blog item a bit later, the MTV News team was shocked by the post's record-setting traffic. That, in turn, gave birth to "Twilight" Tuesdays, the cast's appearances at the MTV Movie Awards, the media picking up on the phenomenon later that year and — well, you know the rest of the story.

Of course, at the time, KStew also got herself in a bit of hot water, saying, "He throws me over his back [in one scene], right before he's going to tell me that he's a vampire, and then he runs over the treetops. And we're going to be in real treetops; we're not just going to CGI it. We actually get to go up there, and that's what I'm stoked on."

Months before the cameras rolled in Portland — and before anyone else was even cast — that simple "treetop" comment was enough to get fans of the "Twilight" books worked into a tizzy. Now, all this time later, those very same fans love the "Twilight" movies and have come to accept Kristen as their Bella. One of the reasons they love the actress is because she has such a playful relationship with them.

"Do we not, like, run up the tree and play around?" Stewart said about the controversy in our recent interview. "You just have to choose your words like crazy [when it comes to 'Twilight']."

One question I get asked more than any other is what the "Twilight" stars are like in real life — and to that, I'd say that Kristen now seems more calm, cool and at peace with the "Twilight" chaos than ever before, as evidenced by how enthusiastically she reminisced about that first interview.

Kristen Stewart Says New Movie Shows 'Different Types Of Love'

BEVERLY HILLS, California — Imagine the difficulty in trying to capture true romance onscreen. Think about how difficult it would be to construct a love story that millions would identify with as true to their own experiences, one that hordes of people would believe will last forever, one that will find the truth of a lifetime of companionship, all in about 90 minutes. For every "Titanic" or "The Notebook," there are dozens of clunkers featuring actors with no chemistry, clichйd scenes that show no signs of true soulmate-bonding and countless dollars lost by audience members who enter the theater looking for love and leave with nothing but disappointment.

To many in her generation, "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart is one-half of the greatest love story that exists in cinema. Now she returns this week with "The Yellow Handkerchief," a film that shows remarkable skill in depicting both a grown-up romance (featuring an ex-con played by William Hurt and his old flame played by Maria Bello) and a tale of teenage innocence (depicting a shy boy played by Eddie Redmayne and a mysterious wild child in Stewart). So when we caught up with Kristen recently, we had to ask: What's the secret to making a great romantic movie?

"That's a hard question," Stewart admitted, saying that even after "Handkerchief" and the "Twilight" movies, she still is trying to figure it out. "[The good ones] should all be totally unique."

"And there is uniqueness about [this film]," added Redmayne, a little-known British actor who many are predicting big things for in the future. "In this love story, I like the contrast between the two relationships."

"For me, what's interesting about the film is that the writing is so specific to the idiosyncrasies of relationships, of love," Kristen said of the tear-inducing "Handkerchief" script. "And often I feel like, in Hollywood films, there can be that slightly clichйd perception of what love and what a relationship is."

"In the older one — the William Hurt and Maria Bello relationship — you have a triumphant, real love story, like you really want them to be together and when they're not it feels really wrong," Redmayne explained. "With ours, they may not be together next week — they're crazy kids, like total weirdo loners."

Ultimately, Stewart explained, the best thing about "Handkerchief" may be that it acknowledges that every love story — including yours — is unique. "What I love, that 'The Yellow Handkerchief' actually does, is that it shows there are different types of love," she reasoned. "There are different types of relationships, different types of people that can find a focus and adoration for each other, even in weird circumstances."

Bruce Willis Thinks 'Die Hard 5' Will Shoot In 2011

Since 1988's "Die Hard," Bruce Willis has suited up as a crime-solving, justice-bringing, people-protecting badass in nearly 20 movies. While the 54-year-old actor begins to make the rounds to promote his latest turn as an onscreen hero in "Cop Out," he's also making plans to return to the franchise that made him a star. MTV News has learned exclusively that Willis expects to shoot "Die Hard 5" in 2011.

"I think we're going to do a 'Die Hard 5' next year," Willis told us.

Though vague chatter about another film in the franchise has cropped up here and there over the last few years — most recently while Willis was promoting "Surrogates" last fall — these recent comments represent the most concrete evidence to date that Willis is committed to reprising his role of John McClane (one of MTV News' greatest movie badasses of all time).

The project appears to be in the early phases, but Willis does have some ideas about the story and who should be tagged to direct. "It's got to go worldwide," the actor said about the potential plotline. "That would be my contribution to it."

His first choice to direct would be the man who last brought McClane to the big screen. "I would hire Len Wiseman right now," Willis said. A vet of two "Underworld" flicks, Wiseman has not helmed a feature since 2007's "Live Free or Die Hard."

While Willis readies himself to return to "Die Hard" territory, he admitted that he much prefers taking a comedic angle on cop films — а la "Cop Out," which also stars Tracy Morgan — than the more serious approach of the "Die Hard" franchise.

"I like so much more making fun of it, taking the piss out of it, not making it a big deal and not making the fact that I've acted in a lot of movies a big deal," he said. "It's all illusion, and it's all bulls---. It's a great job for me to have, but everything else you can set on fire. Making people laugh is the real deal."

'Twilight' Stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner Will Present Oscars

Kristen Stewart recently let it slip that she would be attending the Oscars alongside pal and fellow "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner — but now it's official. The pair will be presenters at the big show on March 7.

Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron have also been announced as presenters at the 82nd Academy Awards being held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. This broadcast marks Stewart — who won the Orange Rising Star prize at the BAFTAs on Sunday night (Feburary 21) in London — and Lautner's big Oscars debut. Both Cyrus and Efron have previously attended the show — in 2008, Cyrus' flick "Bolt" was nominated for an Academy Award.

Although he made an appearance at last year's show, it has yet to be announced if Robert Pattinson will also present at this year's ceremony.

News first broke of Stewart's Oscars appearance late last week and quickly the gossip blogs were buzzing about the "Twilight" stars appearance on the show. "Yeah, I'm going," Stewart shared with E! News last week, while promoting her new flick "The Yellow Handkerchief." "Me and Taylor are going to present. I've been looking at shoes. I'm trying to pick shoes that I know I won't fall down in."

It was recently revealed by producers that Sasha Baron Cohen was the first choice for host before they asked the duo of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. "[T]he Academy swatted it down," show producer Adam Shankman said in a recent interview of the Baron Cohen suggestion. "They thought it was too big of a wild card."

The Oscars will air live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 7.

'Shutter Island' Cast Talk Leonardo DiCaprio And Martin Scorsese's 'Passionate' Relationship

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have been down this road before, but never has it led to such riches. The pair's fourth big-screen collaboration, and picked up $40.2 million at the box office. That total is about $13 million more than the pair's previous high mark of $26.9 million, which "The Departed" took in during its opening weekend in 2006, and it's a clear indication that the duo is doing their most audience-pleasing work to date.

What's the secret to their cinematic special sauce? "There's very little bullsh--," "Shutter" co-star Emily Mortimer told MTV News. "And despite the fact that they're the most celebrated movie star and director in the world, they're very down-to-earth and very present."

The unpretentious vibe extended to welcoming those actors who had never been part of a DiCaprio-Scorsese production. "They let me in pretty quickly," said Mark Ruffalo. "We ate some cannoli. We had some mostacholi, some ravioli. I told them my last name ended with an 'o,' and then we were all very copacetic."

Once the cameras started rolling, DiCaprio and the cast found Scorsese aggressively pushing them to create the hallucinatory set pieces that capture the frightening spirit of the mental hospital that serves as the story's setting. "We kept pushing the intensity of each one of these sequences further and further and it wore on all of us," said DiCaprio. "We had to go to some pretty crazy places."

But when the director yelled "Cut!" the cast once again found itself in tranquil environs. "He's a delightful man to work with," Sir Ben Kingsley said of DiCaprio. "He's very charming and he's very intelligent."

"They're both so passionate," added Patricia Clarkson. "What you see with [Scorsese] is what you get, and that's the beauty of him. He's so passionate. It's infectious."

‘Valentine’s Day’ Is Moviegoers’ First Love At Box OfficeAmy heading back to the Caribbean

Kristen Stewart Says Robert Pattinson Is 'Quite Bold' In 'Remember Me'

These days, every Twilighter has two movies they're dying to see while they continue to count down the days until June's "Eclipse." One is Kristen Stewart's "The Yellow Handkerchief," a romantic drama that opens in limited release this weekend, and the other is "Remember Me," Robert Pattinson first post-Edward Cullen starring role, which hits theaters March 12.

With all the kissing scenes Stewart has shared with Pattinson, "Twilight" fans already have plenty of reason to be jealous. Now they have another — she's already seen Rob's film and she gives it two KStew thumbs-up.

"I've seen the movie, I'm going to just say — I'm sure people will be like, 'Oh my God [I'm so jealous!]," she laughed. "He's really good in the movie."

For those of you who've been too busy watching "Twilight" on repeat mode on your DVD player to stay up with the latest news, "Remember Me" tells the story of a troubled young man (Pattinson) who finds redemption in a forbidden romance with a policeman's daughter (Emilie de Ravin). As if fans needed an added incentive, it was revealed yesterday that the film will hit theaters attached to the "Eclipse" trailer — but although Stewart didn't see that, she did see a version of the film without it.

"It's hard to talk about your friends — about anybody that's close to you that you know," she said of critiquing Rob's performance. "It's like, he's everything I know he is. I know he can do any film."

You can bet that Hollywood will be watching the box office of "Remember Me" very closely, looking at it as the first true indication of whether Rob and so many of his other "Twilight" co-stars can carry their momentum over to non-"Saga" projects. And although she wouldn't speak to the film's box-office potential, KStew teased "Twilight" fans by promising that when it comes to acting chops in "Remember Me," Rob brings the goods.

"Living is so wrapped up in who you are as an actor, not everybody can play every part," she said, explaining that RPattz was well cast in the film. "He is really strong in the movie. Maybe people won't really expect that — he's quite bold, which is great."

Kristen Stewart Hopes 'Eclipse' Proposal Scene 'Turned Out All Right'

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are getting married. Wait, it's not what you think. In "Eclipse," out in June, their characters Bella and Edward decide to take their relationship to the next level and get engaged.

But Stewart had some apprehensions about shooting that scene. She didn't want the scenario of two teens, one being a vampire who happens to be many years older than his facade of 17, deciding to marry one another to look silly or unbelievable.

"Well, to decide you're gonna marry someone at 18 is a pretty hefty decision," she told MTV News from the red carpet of the premiere of her new movie, "The Yellow Handkerchief." "And I didn't want to look stupid. I didn't want it to look like kids getting married. You know what I mean?"

Stewart said she had to find an emotional space that allowed her to make a teenage engagement seem plausible. "I wanted to be, like, 'Oh! Wow! I would say yes too!' You know what I mean? So I don't know how you do that. You try to do it for real, and it felt good. I hope it turned out alright."

The actress also shared which scenes she'd like to see appear in the "Eclipse" trailer that's set to premiere in March during showings of Pattinson's "Remember Me." "Oh, my gosh! There's a really cool thing that happens on a cliff with Jacob that should definitely be in there," she explained. "Battle stuff. I would say the [newborn vampires]. The newborns are going to look awesome."

James Cameron Says He Doesn't Need More Oscars

Does James Cameron want an Oscar night redo, a chance to erase his 1998 "King of the World" proclamation from the public consciousness? How important is it to the man to walk away from Hollywood's biggest evening on March 7 with those golden Directing and Best Picture figurines for his nearly five-year effort on "Avatar"?

"I already got my statues," he told MTV News. "I don't feel greedy or needy in that way."

That may or may not be true, but he's certainly doing some very public campaigning for his Oscar competition, "The Hurt Locker," directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who just so happens to be his ex-wife. Both are nominated for Directing and both films nabbed Best Picture nods.

"I would see it's an irresistible opportunity for the Academy to anoint a female director for the first time," said Cameron, who remains close with Bigelow. "I would say that's a very, very strong probability, and I will be cheering when that happens."

Yet Cameron held out the possibility that voters for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences might choose to honor both "Avatar" and "Hurt Locker" by splitting up the Directing and Best Picture awards, as has happened in the past with "The Pianist" and "Chicago" (2002) and "Gladiator" and "Traffic" (2000).

Calling Bigelow a "genius director" and saying his Oscar wins didn't change his life back in the late 1990s, Cameron said the main reason he'll be rooting for "Avatar" Oscar wins is for the benefit of his crew.

"I worked with this core group of people for four and half years and they would feel so empowered and gratified by that type of award," he said. "But, of course, we're nominated in a number of those technical categories as well, so maybe that's where the accolades should reside."

Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan Talk Roman Polanski 'Horror Stories'

"The Ghost Writer" is a film about political double-dealing and the relentless search for truth and justice, featuring performances from two distinguished British actors, Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan. Yet perhaps the film's most engrossing story involves its director, Roman Polanski, from his reputation as a fierce control freak on-set to the reemergence of his legal troubles stemming from a three-decade-old sex-abuse charge.

When MTV News had a chance to speak with McGregor and Brosnan recently, the topic of Polanski's legal issues was assiduously avoided, but the director's overall demeanor was ripe for discussion.

"You hear the horror stories and then you hear the passionate stories — his temperament," Brosnan said. "He is extremely intense, that's for sure. You have to know yourself and be on your toes and give as good as you get."

Filming on islands off the northern coast of Germany, near Denmark, known for the type of stormy weather Polanski required for the movie, he and the cast spent long hours rehearsing. McGregor said the director would make sure everyone was comfortable, everyone had an espresso in his hand, and then he'd be extremely specific about how he wanted the action to proceed.

"I think he's got a very particular about how a scene is played and even how you deliver the lines through the rehearsal process, but once you start filming, I always sensed he let go of the reins at that point and left you free to explore," McGregor said, adding, "It's like filmmaking is his toy and he knows exactly how he likes to play with it."

Polanski didn't get to play with the film as much as he might have liked after the end of post-production. On his way to the Zurich Film Festival last September, the "Rosemary's Baby" director was arrested and briefly jailed as authorities sought his extradition to the United States. In 1977, Polanski pled guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl, but fled the country and took up residence in Switzerland, where he remains under house arrest. In late January, a California judge ruled the director must return to the U.S. to be sentenced.

Their director's legal troubles notwithstanding, both McGregor and Brosnan spoke of their admiration for — and their aggravations with — working with Polanski on set. "When you have someone who's specific and all-encompassing like Polanski, then you enter into his domain, his world each day you go on set, and there's an electricity to it," Bronson said. "He can get a bit touchy at times, and petulant, but it's only because he's passionate about the moment and the composition of the shot."

Blur to release ‘No Distance Left to Run’ DVDRobert Pattinson Is ‘A Great Lad,’ According To Pierce Brosnan

Kristen Stewart Wants 'Eclipse' Trailer To Show 'Battle Stuff'

Though Twilighters are already salivating for the chance to see the first "Eclipse" trailer in theaters next month, star Kristen Stewart had yet to hear Thursday's news that the trailer would make its big debut before Robert Pattinson's "Remember Me" on March 12.

"Really? Oh my god! I have no idea!" Stewart told MTV News at the premiere of her latest release, "The Yellow Handkerchief." "I didn't even know it was coming out, so ... that's news to me too!"

Stewart did have an idea of what she's eager to see in the trailer for the third "Twilight" installment. "Oh, my gosh! There's a really cool thing that happens on a cliff with Jacob that should definitely be in there," she explained. "Battle stuff. I would say the [newborn vampires]. The newborns are going to look awesome."

Stewart said she has yet to see any footage from the David Slade-directed movie, which finished filming in October. "I haven't even done like [automated dialogue replacement]," she said.

Late last year, at the link type="content" id="1626709">New York premiere of "New Moon," Stewart told MTV News that she was really excited for fans to get a chance to see the love triangle between Jacob, Bella and Edward intensify in this next film. "I'm looking forward to seeing the love triangle actually becoming a problem," she said. "We sort of innocently touch on it in 'New Moon,' but it actually becomes something that is very, very real."

What are you excited to see in the "Eclipse" trailer? How do you think it will stack up to the other "Twilight" trailers? Tell us in the comments below!

James Cameron Responds To Right-Wing 'Avatar' Critics

One conservative reviewer called "Avatar" a "PC Revenge Fantasy" for liberals. A prominent writer for The Weekly Standard assailed James Cameron's film for its "deep expression of anti-Americanism." The Christian Web site MovieGuide bemoaned the flick's "abhorrent New Age, pagan, anti-capitalist worldview."

What say you, Mr. Cameron?

"It's high-quality left swill, is how I would position the film," he joked to MTV News.

His truthful judgment about all this political hot air, though, stems from 30-odd years of dealing with fumbling reactions to his films.

"The two 'Terminator' films were tough enough that even if there was a soft, gooey center there, the films still were hard-ass, so it was OK," he explained. "But 'Titanic,' it was kind of like I took the hard-ass part away, and I left the soft, gooey center and a lot of people loved it. But it was also easy to attack, especially after the fact. There was this revisionist sense that if you were a guy, you didn't like 'Titanic.'

" 'Avatar' confuses people because it's got all this cool eye candy and all this cool action, and if they're starting to feel something in the middle of that, it's kind of OK," Cameron continued. "Unless you're a hard right-wing pundit, in which case it's OK, and the whole movie's ridiculous and fatuous and stupid."

The controversy concerns the story's focus on a band of neolithic-esque humanoids called the Na'vi, whose nature-loving ways are disrupted by the invading human colonizers and their insistence on plundering the territory without regard for anything but money. The setup is anything but even-handed — by the fiery climax, you're rooting for the mass murder of the human soldiers — but it'd take a great leap of logic to tag "Avatar" as anti-American or anti-capitalist. The film certainly has a strong point of view, but it's not one that eschews moneymaking. Rather, Cameron is delivering a message about environmentalism and respecting the planet on which we live.

But that hasn't stopped the right-wing pundits from staking out some wacky positions. "My favorite one was, 'They're too dumb to even know what they're saying,' " Cameron said of attacks against him. " 'Any message ... you might interpret being in the film is there by mistake.' "

James Cameron Writing ‘Avatar’ Prequel — But Not For The Big ScreenBlur to release ‘No Distance Left to Run’ DVD

'Harry Potter' Author J.K. Rowling Targeted In Plagiarism Case

Another month, another plagiarism claim. The target this time is "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling, whose name has been added as a defendant to a lawsuit filed in June against Bloomsbury Publishing PLC by the estate of the late Adrian Jacobs. According to The Associated Press , the suit alleges that "Potter" book four, 2000's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," borrowed liberally from Jacobs' 1987 book "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard — No. 1 Livid Land" and took other ideas from the "Willy the Wizard" series.

Rowling, no stranger to copyright infringement proceedings, was quick to speak up in her own defense. "I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry," she said. "The fact is I had never heard of the author or the book before the first accusation by those connected to the author's estate in 2004; I have certainly never read the book."

Jacobs died in 1997. In 2004, his estate approached Bloomsbury with similar claims, but the situation failed to escalate when no identical passages in the two books could be identified. In speaking against the updated suit, Rowling went on to say that she will join Bloomsbury in filing for the court to rule "without delay" that the allegations are "without merit."

The Jacobs estate, based out of Australia, obviously sees things differently. Rep Max Markson calls this "a billion-dollar case." Estate trustee Paul Allen is also looking into possible copyright breaches relating to the "Harry Potter" films and soon-to-open Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida.

Rowling is in good company when it comes to copyright infringement allegations targeting high-profile works of fiction. Last summer, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer was named in a plagiarism suit that alleged she had lifted significant portions of another writer's book for the final chapter in her vampire romance series, "Breaking Dawn." That suit was dismissed in December. Time will tell whether the same happens with these "Potter" claims.

'Avatar' Director James Cameron Says 3-D DVD In Stores This November

"Avatar" arrived in December, and it looks like the DVD will start shipping 11 months later. That's what James Cameron told MTV News when the writer/director stopped by the newsroom to chat on Wednesday (February 17).

"We're going to put 'Avatar' out probably in November on 3-D — bare bones, just the movie — and then we'll follow up with some kind of special edition later down the line," he said.

By the time the DVD arrives, major electronics manufacturers like Samsung, Panasonic and Sony should have home 3-D television systems available for purchase, albeit at a premium price. Pair one of those sets with a 3-D-enabled Blu-ray player, and while you won't exactly be re-creating an IMAX viewing environment, you will get three dimensions of Pandoran glory and still be close enough to your fridge to hit pause and grab a cold soda.

While Cameron has talked with us before about what we might find in terms of extras on the DVD, on Wednesday he expanded and clarified those comments. The DVD, he said, is likely to contain five or six minutes of fully finished, theatrical-release-quality deleted scenes and 15 minutes of footage that was excised early on and thus contains rough CG effects.

"The unfinished scenes look like a cheesy video game," Cameron said. "They're the performances — you can really see what the scenes would have been — but it doesn't have that magical realism of the finished film."

Among the deleted scenes will be footage focusing on the main group of Na'vi humanoids of Pandora, the introduction of other Na'vi clans, and the ritual hunt for a colorful creature called a Sturmbeest in which Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) takes part.

"It's all wonderful stuff, but it was sort of bogging down the middle section of the movie," Cameron told us back in December. "So there's plenty for a value-added DVD experience on this film. Of course, we'll have to go punch it all up and get it all mixed and stuff like that."

Blur to release ‘No Distance Left to Run’ DVDJames Cameron Writing ‘Avatar’ Prequel — But Not For The Big Screen

Robert Pattinson Is 'A Great Lad,' According To Pierce Brosnan

The rabid fans with their cell phone cams and ear-splitting screams. The frenzy over a rumored run-in with a moving taxi cab. The daily perils and pleasures of working in the Big Apple. As all this by-now-familiar madness surrounded Robert Pattinson on the New York City set of "Remember Me" last year, co-star Pierce Brosnan couldn't help but want to shield his fellow actor.

"I play his dad and there's a part of you, as a dad — you feel protective toward the fellow," Brosnan told MTV News.

Even the man behind four James Bond films had a hard time processing the fan and paparazzi circus that surrounded the production each day. "It was really bizarre," he told MTV News. "We were filming in Central Park South and the caravans are there and mine was very quiet and sedate and I'm reading my book and having a nice cup of coffee. Down the other end was Robert with 6,000 girls. I've never encountered such a thing."

Brosnan would make his way from his trailer to set, waving to fans and reveling in some of the attention that still comes his way after years of portraying the world's most dapper super spy. Then RPattz would arrive.

"By the time I walked up the steps of the plaza, he'd be coming up behind me and there'd be this cacophony, this blistering sound barrier of girls," he laughed. "They just love him to bits and he's a great lad."

The older actor credited the younger one with taking an active role in his career, moving from simply acting to also producing — a move that Brosnan said should lead to a long and successful stay in Hollywood. "He acquits himself really well and he's got his head on his shoulders," Brosnan said. "He's an executive producer on this movie and so, grace under pressure, he'll move right through this period and have a great time. Just enjoy it. Give a little, get a lot."

'Valentine's Day' Is Moviegoers' First Love At Box Office

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "Valentine's Day" ($66.9 million)
#2 "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" ($38.8 million)
#3 "The Wolfman" ($36.5 million)
#4 "Avatar" ($30 million)
#5 "Dear John" ($18.8 million)

The combined star power of Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Julia Roberts, Jessica Alba, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift and more won over the hearts, minds and wallets of moviegoers everywhere this weekend as "Valentine's Day" decisively won the holiday-weekend box office.

Director Garry Marshall's ensemble romantic comedy easily took first place with a final domestic tally of $66.9 million by the end of President's Day on Monday. The stateside result alone puts Marshall's latest nearly $17 million ahead of its production budget, providing plenty of non-holiday reasons for the film's participants to celebrate the victory.

Though it won the box office by a meaningful margin, "Valentine's Day" was hardly the only fierce competitor in movie theaters this weekend. Director Chris Columbus' "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" took second place with a $38.8 million domestic haul, proving that there's plenty of room in the marketplace for adaptations of young adventure novels along the lines of the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" series. Still, with an estimated budget of $95 million, "Percy" needs to electrify audiences a bit more in the coming weeks in order to amass a significant profit.

Despite a third place finish, Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman" didn't fare quite as well as the gold and silver medalists. Universal's re-launch of the classic horror franchise stars Benicio Del Toro in the title role, but the Oscar winner's talent and passion for the project weren't enough to draw the masses to the monster movie. "Wolfman" earned only $36.5 million domestically and $21 million in international markets, for a worldwide total of $57.5 million, leaving the film with a ways to go before earning back its $150 million budget.

It's hard to imagine Fox executives complaining about James Cameron's "Avatar," even after the 3-D science fiction epic fell to fourth place this weekend. In its ninth weekend in theaters, "Avatar" still produced an admirable $30 million finish that bested "Dear John," the romantic drama that dethroned Cameron's latest just last weekend.

Upcoming Releases

Next weekend sees the wide release of director Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island," the Leonardo DiCaprio thriller based on Dennis Lehane's acclaimed novel.

Check out everything we've got on "Valentine's Day" and "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief."

Kevin Smith Airplane Drama Causes Online Uproar

"Southwest, I appreciate you refunding my airfare. But if you're not gonna admit I wasn't Too Fat to Fly, then I'll cover it."

That is the latest statement from filmmaker Kevin Smith, who started a debate Sunday morning after being ejected from a Southwest Airlines flight, allegedly for being too overweight and posing a safety and security risk. Embarrassed and furious, he immediately began tweeting about his situation to his more than 1.5 million followers.

Smith's final word on the issue came last night via his blog, on which he responded to what he believes to be an inadequate public apology from the company posted to its own blog. Acknowledging that the Southwest blogger, Linda Rutherford, is the nicest representative of the airline he's dealt with since the incident, he objected to her ultimate inclusion of the company's policy regarding passengers who require two seats, inferring that he was still unfit to fly.

"Now I'm gonna carry this Too Fat to Fly sh-- around like herpes for the rest of my life, and it was never even true," Smith wrote.

While the "Cop Out" director might be "running out of gas on this subject" and wishes to devote his Twitter feed to other topics, the story continues, two days after the start of this PR nightmare, and it's unlikely to disappear anytime soon. Such is the reality for corporate complaints in the age of Twitter, especially when dissatisfaction comes from someone like Smith, who has such a large audience.

This audience first learned of the incident early Valentine's Day morning, with the initial tweet from Smith (a.k.a. @ThatKevinSmith): "Dear @SouthwestAir — I know I'm fat, but was Captain Leysath really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?"

The tweets continued to come, both as a desire to explain what happened and to clarify further with direct responses to followers' questions and even sparked a back-and-forth with the Southwest Twitter feed. It was soon evident that the 140 characters allotted per tweet was insufficient to tell the full story.

So Smith went to another of his many public communication platforms. In an "emergency" episode of his podcast, called the Smodcast, he conversed with his wife, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, about the incident for close to 90 minutes in order to provide his timeline of what occurred, as well as some necessary background leading up to his boarding of and subsequent dismissal from the packed California flight from Oakland to Burbank.

"I can fit into a Southwest Airlines seat," Smith stated in the podcast, defending his size. "This is the important part of the story. If I have to, I can fly one seat on Southwest. I just opt not to, because it's more comfortable, and I have enough money to do it."

This was a response to Southwest's claim that Smith has a history of purchasing more than one seat for himself on the airline's flights. The filmmaker admitted to this practice yet noted his reasoning, also directed to his critics who believe his celebrity status means he should just go first class or buy a private jet.

"[They] thought I bought two tickets because I'm fat," he said. "I don't like people. I don't like to sit next to people."

He continued with acknowledgment that he is indeed a fat man, but he doesn't believe he is so overweight as to be a victim of Southwest's policy. He's "not John Candy yet," he said in the podcast. And he claims to have been able to buckle his seat belt, put down the seat's arm rests and not disturb the comfort of his neighboring passengers.

Yet his issue was originally more about customer service than policy. He believes the way the incident was handled was humiliating, as he was first allowed onto the plane as a standby but was then removed in front of everyone as if he were a "shoe bomber."

Smith claimed another passenger on the same flight was more overweight than he is, and he could see in that man's eyes a shared embarrassment and sudden fearfulness that he was the next to be shamed. On his eventual flight home, the filmmaker sat next to a woman who was also mistreated for her size. "They're coming for the fatties," he recalled thinking during the incident. "They're taking us to Candyland to kill us."

After being booted, Smith claims to have been lied to, given the runaround, given "PC doublespeak" and other customer-service mistakes. "I'm not saying you gotta respect me because I'm fat, but respect me because I'm a paying customer," he said.

Southwest Airlines has refunded Smith's airfare for Sunday's flight. The filmmaker is looking into other airline options for his future travel.

What do you think about Kevin Smith's beef with Southwest? Whose side are you on? Let us know below!

Madonna To Direct Film About King Edward, Wallis Simpson Affair

Madonna wants to make a movie. The pop superstar will direct "W.E.," a biopic focused on the love affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, Variety reports. The real-life couple caused quite a stir in 1936, when Edward's decision to marry the American socialite led him to abdicate the British throne.

No casting has been announced yet, but the report reveals that "Up in the Air" star Vera Farmiga is interested in the Simpson role. Madonna, whose acting credits include "A League of Their Own," "Who's That Girl?" and "Swept Away," will write the script with Alec Keshishian, who was her director for the 1991 tour documentary "Madonna: Truth or Dare." There's no word on whether the pop star intends to take a role in the movie as well.

This will be Madonna's second time behind the lens. She previously wrote and directed the 2008 indie "Filth and Wisdom," which premiered that year at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film, which stars Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hьtz, did not fare well with critics, with a rating of just 28 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Farmiga, who picked up a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination earlier this month for her work in "Up in the Air," will be seen later this year in "Henry's Crime." She'll star alongside Keanu Reeves in the romantic comedy about a man who is wrongfully imprisoned. "W.E." could work out well for her provided the script is strong, but Farmiga's participation would undoubtedly give Madonna's flick a much-needed PR boost.

'The Wolfman' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need to Know

For years, horror fans have been howling at the moon over the news that Benicio Del Toro would play the Wolfman. Now, the film is finally hitting theaters this weekend, and millions of people seem eager to glimpse his hair-raising performance.

Where did it all begin? How loyal is the new film to the old, classic monster movies? For the answer to these and other questions, be sure to sink your teeth into our "Wolfman" cheat sheet before you head to the theater.

A Long and Winding Road
Way back in 2007, Benicio Del Toro signed on to make the movie, and the actor's eccentric facial features and hulking intensity were instantly praised as one of the best casting coups in recent memory. We later broke the news that Anthony Hopkins was joining the film as Lawrence Talbot's creepy dad and also got the exclusive scoop at Sundance '08 that Emily Blunt was also onboard. Del Toro later filled us in on plans to tweak the storyline — and make sure Dracula didn't get a cameo.

Almost Too Scary
Make no mistake: This is a hard-core, R-rated movie with so much carnage that the latest trailer nearly made Emily Blunt vomit. The first trailer was no slouch, either. The movie has an adults-only subplot that sees Blunt's Gwen Conliffe bed-hopping from one brother to the next, making for a hairy situation when she discovers what killed her initial love interest.

Transforming From Wolf to Man
Collaborating with legendary makeup designer Rick Baker, Benicio Del Toro set out to remake "The Wolfman" through a mix of homage, innovation and anger. The makeup took hours to apply and even more time to remove, but as you can see in these photos, it turned out horrifically beautiful. That isn't to say, however, that there weren't some speed bumps along the way, as Baker and the filmmakers clashed over whether the transformation would be achieved with makeup or CGI.

A Big Weekend?
Kanye West might not be a fan of Lon Chaney Jr.'s original Wolfman, but Benicio sure is. As such, our experts over at the MTV Movies Blog are betting that his desire to update a classic will result in a big weekend for the hirsute Hollywood star.

'Valentine's Day' Stars Find Romance, Onscreen And Off

Director Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day" is both a celebration and examination of the complexities of love. With the aid of a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Jessica Alba, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway and others, "Valentine's Day" demonstrates just how blissful and confusing love can be at times — but many of these actors aren't just dealing with matters of the heart on the big screen. For many of them, love is a very deep (and often public) part of their own personal lives.

Before you let the cast of "Valentine's Day" teach you a thing or two about how to woo your lover of choice, it's worth wondering what lessons can be gleaned simply by studying these actors and their own romantic lives. In some instances, the road leads to a happy Hollywood marriage, while in others, it leads to heartache. Cozy on up with a box of your favorite bonbons and enjoy this look back on the romantic exploits of the stars of "Valentine's Day."

Ashton Kutcher
In "Valentine's Day," Ashton Kutcher plays Reed Bennett, a florist at the center of much of the film's passionate activity. Years ago, Kutcher himself filled a similar role, dating a variety of fellow actresses including January Jones and the late Brittany Murphy. But in early 2003, Kutcher made headlines when he started a relationship with Demi Moore, an actress 15 years older than the former "That 70's Show" star. While some were skeptical of the couple at the time, Kutcher and Moore have been happily married since 2005, proving their doubters wrong.

Bradley Cooper
Back in 2005, "Wedding Crashers" hit theaters and catapulted Bradley Cooper into the public eye. But even as the young actor worked tirelessly to establish himself as Hollywood's next leading man, Cooper found love with actress Jennifer Esposito. The two were married in December 2006, but it was a short-lived affair, as Esposito filed for divorce in April of the next year. Most recently, Cooper has been romantically linked to Oscar-winning actress Renйe Zellweger.

Jennifer Garner
Although happily married to "Daredevil" co-star Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner hasn't always traveled the easiest romantic road. In 2000, she married "Felicity" co-star Scott Foley. The pair eventually divorced in 2003, claiming that their celebrity status cost them their marriage. Despite that assertion, Garner continued looking for love in the hills of Hollywood, enjoying a brief romance with "Alias" co-star Michael Vartan before ultimately marrying Affleck in 2005.

Jessica Biel
Privacy isn't an easy thing to come by for celebrities, especially where romance is involved. Despite a desire to keep her relationship with pop sensation Justin Timberlake a secret, Jessica Biel's romantic life has been under a microscope since rumors of their pairing first surfaced in 2007. Now, with rumors that the two have parted ways, the constant scrutiny seems to have gone away, largely because Biel has refused to address the situation.

Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift
The relationship between Grammy-winning Taylor Swift and "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" star Taylor Lautner was just too good to be true, and not only because they share the same first name. While their short-lived romance seems to be over for now, fans of both the country singer and the on-the-rise action star will get a chance to see the two of them together one last time as a young couple in love in "Valentine's Day."

'Valentine's Day' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Whether you're in love or not, Valentine's Day is this Sunday, and "Valentine's Day" is the perfect movie to share with your honey — or throw popcorn at if you're single and bitter. Starring Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, both Jessicas, both Taylors and seemingly everyone in Hollywood with the exception of Joe Piscopo, it's a unique opportunity to learn the do's and don't s of dating from your favorite stars.

Directed by iconic Hollywood veteran Garry Marshall, "Valentine's Day" will do its best to shoot an arrow into your heart this weekend. But, before you go see the highly anticipated flick, check out our must-see cheat sheet to prepare yourself for a movie as sweet and surprising as a Whitman's sampler.

Valentine's Day Family Tree
First off, the film's trailer is enough to get all the single ladies (and some gents?) excited. From the beginning, the film was conceived as the "Love Boat" of romantic comedies, throwing so many stars into the mix that it would make "He's Just Not That Into You" jealous. There was always a lot of speculation about who was starring in this film, but sorry JoBro fans: No Joe for you. Starstruck? Check out MTV's family tree of the "Valentine's Day" cast to see who the famous stars are and how they are connected from past relationships to past projects. How did Kevin Bacon not end up in this thing?

The Do's and Don'ts of Valentine's Day
According to Jessica Alba, it's not polite to check your BlackBerry or iPhone while on a date. Alba said it's rude, and she advises men if you must do it, "excuse yourself to the restroom." OK, we've all been guilty of that at one point, right? Ashton Kutcher's advice, on the other hand, is to "catch them off guard" — we hope Demi agrees. Kutcher has admitted to hating Valentine's Day but says that if it's going to be done, celebrate it ASAP — in the morning.

Stars Dish on L.A.
George Lopez spoke the truth to MTV when he said there are some great romantic comedies in New York — so why not Los Angeles? We agree with Lopez (well, at least the West Coast MTV office does, and we're writing this) that it's about time a film represents the City of Angels. Topher Grace said the film doesn't portray a "Hollywood L.A., it's what it really is to live in Los Angeles." Anyone living in L.A. would attest that the city can be pretty normal — well, some of the time.

Taylor and Taylor, Sittin' In a Tree
As "Twilight" fans have been breathlessly anticipating, Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner both appear in this film together and spend much of their screen time sucking face. Take a look at some makeout photos from the set to see for yourself. When Emma Roberts showed up at the "New Moon" premiere to support Taycob, she admitted that she spent a whole day on set just watching them play tonsil hockey. Such moments, however, made stars like Jessica Alba find Taylor and Taylor to be oh "so cute." And an FYI to the cougar ladies: Taylor Lautner came of age this week, the day before the movie premiere hit theaters. Now that he's 18, Lautner is old enough to vote — and choose whether he's going to side with the Twilighters or the Valentine-ers in a dance-off. It's a decision nearly as big as his biceps.

A Hottie and a Crush
While the two Taylors may be "cute," they're not the only young hotties worth celebrating. Up-and-coming actor Carter Jenkins is our Hump Day Hottie this week. Our Girl Crush of the week is Emma Robertshttp://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/02/10/happy-birthday-emma-roberts-the-valentines-day-star-is-this-weeks-girl-crush/. Emma, niece and co-star of Julia Roberts, also celebrates her 19th birthday this week.

The Styles Were Sharp and Chic
On Monday night (February 8), the stars hit the red carpet in Hollywood to premiere the movie. Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher and Patrick Dempsey were looking handsome as they posed for pictures and gave interviews. If you can't wait to see them on the big screen, here's more footage of the "Valentine's Day" male hotties to hold you over. Of course, we cannot forget the beautiful ladies of the night — they all looked chic and amazing. Even Shirley MacLaine looked beautiful wearing a black suit — let's just hope that Oscar-winning cougar keeps her paws off Taylor Lautner.

V-Day Memories
Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel all shared their favorite Valentine's Day memories with us recently. Garner recalled her best one was as a single woman who hit up the wine country with her friend; Biel likes to share the day with her dad, while Topher Grace admitted he did not have a favorite memory. Something tells us there are some ladies out there who'd like to volunteer for weekend duty.

Sequel already?
The movie is just now coming out, but there have already been rumors that there is a sequel in the works. The follow-up would be set on New Year's Eve, which only leaves us with one remaining question: When can we expect "Arbor Day: The Romantic Comedy"?

Check out everything we've got on "Valentine's Day."

'Terribly Happy': Town Without Pity, By Kurt Loder

Talk about tough towns. The remote village that Copenhagen cop Robert Hansen finds himself transferred to in "Terribly Happy" is more than just unwelcoming: It's deeply creepy. The marshal who preceded Hansen in this one-man-police-force job has disappeared, for some unexplained reason, and the rustics who congregate at the local tavern whisper and leer whenever the new arrival walks in — they seem to know more about him than they really should. There's also a little girl who walks the empty streets in the dead of night pushing a baby-less stroller; and in a desolate bog on the outskirts of town, somebody's car is slowly sinking into the muck.

The movie is wonderfully warped. There are overtones of horror and noirish depravity that recall both the 1973 cult film "The Wicker Man" and Shirley Jackson's famous 1948 short story, "The Lottery." But "Terribly Happy," which was Denmark's submission in the foreign-language category for this year's Oscars (and will soon be remade in English), has a mind-knotting fascination of its own. Working from an adaptation of an Erling Jepsen novel by screenwriter Dunja Gry Jensen, director Henrik Ruben Genz builds tension in oblique increments. We see that the downcast Hansen (Jakob Cedergren) isn't quite right in the head himself — he screwed up in Copenhagen (exactly how, we don't learn till late in the film), and this reassignment to the faraway village of Skarrild is his only chance to salvage his career. The troubled cop is already taking anti-anxiety medication — with which the local doctor (Lars Brygmann) is oddly eager to keep him well-supplied — and the director presents the flat, featureless landscape as an emblem of his isolation and unease.

The villagers have their own sinister way of doing things. Errant children — young shoplifters, say — are smacked around rather than turned in for official discipline, and their elders encourage Hansen to follow suit. Troublesome wives are similarly dealt with. When an attractive woman named Ingerlise (Lene Maria Christensen) turns up in Hansen's office to show him the bruises inflicted by her husband, Jшrgen (Kim Bodnia), the town bully, the marshal urges her to file a complaint — something she's mysteriously unwilling to do. Instead, she starts coming on to him, in classic femme-fatale fashion, luring Hansen to what seems very likely to be his doom.

The picture is suffused with a sense of menace, and it's so artfully constructed that it gives you the sweats right up to the end. What's going on in this strange place? What are these people hiding? And who can Hansen trust? He'll be damned if he knows.

Don't miss Kurt Loder's reviews of "Percy Jackson & The Olympians,""The Wolfman" and "Valentine's Day," also new in theaters this week.

'New Moon' Special-Edition DVD To Feature 'Eclipse' Footage

Most of the biggest films between now and the summer have already given fans extensive trailers, from "The A-Team" to "Kick-Ass" to "Toy Story 3." Yet, the film that might become the biggest blockbuster of all — one that involves a clumsy girl, a pale vampire and an ab-tastic werewolf — remains suspiciously silent only four months before its release. But if you're one of the Twilighters asking when you can finally witness an "Eclipse," your answer has finally arrived.

According to a press release issued on Walmart's Web site, seven minutes of footage from "Eclipse" will be revealed on the upcoming "New Moon" DVD — as long as you purchase it at the retailer and make sure it's the slightly more-expensive "The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition" DVD or Blu-ray. New interviews with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, as well as with series-creator Stephenie Meyer, are integrated with revealing on-the-set footage of some of the key scenes and sets from the upcoming movie. This first look at 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' concludes with the world premiere of an actual scene from the upcoming film."

Walmart is planning to host late-night events at 2,600 stores and will be featuring "Twilight Saga Shops" in locations nationwide. According to the press release, among the items in the shops are the following:

» Wolf- and vampire-lover tanks ($7)
» "Twilight Saga"-themed tees ($9)

'Percy Jackson': Five Things You Need To Know

Chris Columbus has already steered a best-selling children's-book series into a mega-successful big-screen franchise, helming the first two "Harry Potter" films. There's no reason he can't do it a second time.

That's his task with the modern-day tale of "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," the first film adapted from the work of author Rick Riordan. After selecting Daniel Radcliffe to become Harry, Columbus plucked 18-year-old Logan Lerman for the role of Percy. He's the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, and a human mother, who's completely unaware of his lineage until he's pulled into a scheme to rescue Zeus' stolen lightning bolt before the gods use planet Earth as their personal battlefield.

Percy joins up with Grover (Brandon T. Jackson), who's half-man, half-goat, and Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario), who's the daughter of Athena. Together, they set off on a quest to save the world. Before the film arrives in theaters Friday (February 12), here's what you need to know.

What Happens at the Shore ...
So where does an immortal Greek god like Poseidon go to meet a lady in the 21st century? A lovely island in the Aegean Sea? Nope! In "Percy Jackson," Poseidon meets the love of his life at none other than the Jersey Shore.

That's right — the Shore isn't just for overly tanned reality stars, but for the gods themselves. "That's pretty funny!" Lerman told MTV News when made aware of the connection. "I never thought about it."

Just don't tell Snooki, OK?

There's Freedom in Post-'Potter' Life
After the success, and the pressure of "Harry Potter," Columbus vowed to take a different approach with "Percy."

"For me, there was a baptism by fire doing the 'Harry Potter' movies," he explained to MTV News. "When we got into that first film, we had the eyes of the world on us in terms of who's going to be cast, what are you going to do. And I realized as I lived through those first pictures that when I got into something big again, I would want to have a sense of liberation as a director. I really wanted to preserve what I thought were the most cinematic elements and incorporate the new scenes."

Among the larger changes he made was turning Percy into a 17-year-old rather than a preteen, all the better to explore the book's themes of parental abandonment and the difficulties of dealing with learning disabilities. Plus the fighting was just so much cooler when the kids were older.

"If it was 12-year-olds sword-fighting, you'd get the sense they were fighting with wooden swords," he said. "It would have a much less edgy quality."

Percy Is Gonna be a Star
Lerman has already been selected to be the face of a franchise based on a best-selling book series. Now he might just be the face — and the mask — of a rebooted franchise based on one of the most beloved superheroes of all time: Spider-Man.

Lerman let the news slip last week that he was in discussions to take on the Spidey role, and when we caught up with him, he was enthusiastic about the chance. "To be honest, it's a role that any young actor is dying to play, and I'm just hoping to be considered," he said. "I'm just a huge fan."

Columbus said he'd be happy to share the young actor with another franchise. "He's the real deal," the director said of Lerman. "He's a phenomenal actor. Tobey Maguire is a phenomenal actor, and if you see 'Brothers,' Tobey delivered an amazing performance. I'm a 'Spider-Man' fanatic. To me, that second 'Spider-Man' film is probably the best superhero film ever made. It's a natural progression to reboot with someone who has the ability to become as great of an actor as Tobey Maguire."

Pierce Brosnan Is a Man, Baby! Mostly ...
The former Mr. James Bond plays Chiron, a half-man, half-horse deity known as a centaur. Pulling off the portrayal required a lot of CGI work on the part of the filmmakers. But with his bushy beard and regal mane of hair, Brosnan had no problem getting into character.

"I looked at the artwork from Greek mythology," he told MTV News. "I ride horses. I owned half a racehorse for a while, lost a bit of money. I love horses. So it was a little bit of method acting!"

Even Demigods Dig Lady Gaga
As Percy's quest takes the trio across the country, they end up in a Las Vegas casino. Without revealing too much, the crew ends up forgetting the urgency of their mission — by which we mean they find themselves in a dance sequence set to Lady Gaga's "Poker Face." While Grover and Annabeth eagerly participate in the dance party, Percy hangs back. Why?

"I was going to, or they wanted me to, and I was like, 'Man, you don't want me to dance! I have no moves for this,' " he laughed.
