Maria Bello is playing Taylor Lautner's adoptive mom in his new action thriller, "Abduction," and now the flick has found the actress set to play Lautner's biological mom. According to The Hollywood Reporter 's Risky Business blog, the role will be played by Elisabeth Röhm, best known for roles on the TV series "Heroes" and "Angel."
The film is currently being shot by director John Singleton. Röhm joins an impressive cast that includes Bello, Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina and Jason Isaacs, among others, in a role originally intended for actress Emily Mortimer. Bello recently described the film as "badass."
Lautner, who had another great weekend at the box office thanks to "Eclipse" hitting number one over the July Fourth holiday, was already training for the film when MTV News recently spoke to him. "I did boxing training for a couple months. Now I'm into the fight training, motorcycle. ... I think when I get to Pittsburgh, [I'll] do a little swimming training. It's all-around. It's going to be a lot of fun."
In the Jason Bourne-style thriller, Lautner stars as a teen who stumbles upon his baby picture on a missing-persons website. As he reaches out to his birth parents, Lautner finds himself caught up in a world of underground spies and death-defying stunts.
"I love action, but most important is the story," Lautner said. "And the story behind this action thriller ['Abduction'] is amazing. We got [director] John Singleton behind us. ... I'm so thankful we're getting a cast like that."
