Paramore's Hayley Williams has just one thing on her to-do list between now and November 21: Finish reading the "Twilight" series.
"I've read the whole series, and I'm finishing up 'Breaking Dawn' right now, I've got five chapters to go," she laughed. "It's tough, though! Now that I'm home, I'm so unfocused that I can't sit down and finish it ... but I'm going to before the film."
This might seem rather odd, especially considering Williams and her band contributed a pair of songs to the "Twilight" soundtrack (you know, the #1 album in the country right now), and the diminutive frontwoman has never been shy about discussing her love of the series. But despite the fact that she's yet to actually finish the "Twilight" books, that doesn't mean she hasn't already made up her mind about one key issue: who her favorite character is.
"When I was on the second and third books, Jacob was my favorite, and everyone, like, hates Jacob for whatever reason," Williams said. "But I gotta say, I love Bella, because I feel like she's a very complex and beautiful person."
And it was from Bella — and her relationship with Edward — that Williams drew lyrical inspiration for the song "Decode," the first single from the "Twilight" soundtrack. But that's not the only thing she took from the books.
"I was definitely pulling from things I read in the book. There's a few references. They might be a little bit vague, but I think that people who read the books will get them," she explained. "But honestly, I felt like I connected with Bella reading the stories ... mostly [due to] the fact that I'm in love with a vampire."
Wow, that's creepy. And though it's early, Williams said she and her bandmates aren't opposed to contributing a few more songs to the soundtrack to the next film in the "Twilight" saga, "New Moon" — if it gets made.
"Oh, I don't know. I wouldn't rule it out. Like I said, I'm a big fan," she laughed. "Maybe that would be a bit excessive. Maybe we're being selfish if we do that, but if they offer it, we'll do it."
